Apparition · Fedago

A tooth that falls out is a card.

The little mouse works one side of the Atlantic, the tooth fairy the other. Here they are building the same thing, and every tooth in the class is a piece of it.

Parents make the account, add their children, and write down the tooth that fell: which one, where it was left, what condition it was in. The card arrives with its piece of the story.

No ranking. No comparing. And nobody is ever asked what the tooth fairy left: that is nobody's business.

The story, chapter by chapter

Chapter 1 · The first night

In the beginning there is only an empty building site, somewhere between two time zones. The little mouse arrives from the east, the tooth fairy from the west, and they lay the first piece together.

Chapter 2 · The wall that watches

Enough incisors for a pane of glass: the Palace of Enamel has a window now, and from that window you can see every bedroom where a tooth is waiting.

Chapter 3 · The keyring

Canines become keys. The little mouse hangs one on her belt for every child in the circle. That is how she never forgets an address.

The next chapters open as the circle goes on. Together.

Working name. The real one comes later.
